Netflix has officially announced that their upcoming live-action series "Scooby-Doo: Origins" now has a 2027 release window, alongside revealing the first look of how Scooby-Doo himself will look in the new series.
"Scooby-Doo: Origins" is the first-ever Scooby-Doo project to use an actual dog for Scooby-Doo instead of CGI. The 2002 and 2004 James Gunn-directed live-action films used CGI for Scooby-Doo. Netflix has elected for an actual dog for their live-action series.
Per the official series logline:
Scooby-Doo: Origins is a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy (Tanner Hagen) and Daphne (Mckenna Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma (Abby Ryder Fortson), and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy (Maxwell Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.
At the time of writing, no other plot details have been released.
"Scooby-Doo: Origins" will premiere on Netflix in 2027.
