Nine months ahead of its March 5, 2027 release, Pixar has released the first teaser trailer for their newest film "Gatto." The teaser provides a 60-second energetic and playful sneak peek into the tone that audiences can expect when the film hits theaters next spring. In addition, the teaser shows Pixar's mastery of being able to make quick switches in tone within the same scene, as the teaser goes from Nero and Rocco seriously interrogating another cat to playful banter over who can get the light pull chain switch first.
Alongside the teaser, they revealed that Mark Ruffalo and Laurence Fishburne will join the film's voice cast, with Ruffalo specifically voicing the lead cat of the film, Nero. The logline for the film that Pixar provided alongside the teaser trailer release reads:
In “Gatto,” after years of maneuvering the canal-ridden, superstitious city of Venice, Italy, Nero begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives. Indebted to Rocco, the local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose—unless Venice gets the better of him first. “Gatto” is directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren, the filmmaking team behind the Oscar®-nominated feature “Luca.” The new film releases exclusively in theaters March 5, 2027.
At the time of writing, no other details on "Gatto" have been released. The film premieres exclusively in movie theaters around the world on March 5, 2027.
