The return of a galaxy far, far away on the big screen for the first time since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker is nearing release. The Mandalorian and Grogu has spoken and is heading to theaters May 22, 2026.
During The Walt Disney Company's CinemaCon 2026 panel, Director Jon Favreau walked out on stage to talk about the first post-pandemic Star Wars film release. During his presentation, Favreau talked about how he poured his "joy and love of Star Wars that will translate to a new gneration" into The Mandalorian and Grogu."
In addition to the final full-length trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu that was shown at the panel, which promises the action and powerful character moments that The Mandalorian series has become known for on Disney Plus, Favreau showed the entire opening sequence of the film, which includes an opening actors credits sequence, the first time ever that has been used in a Star Wars film. The opening sequence also includes the action sequence involving Din, Grogu, and the AT-ATs that is seen in previous trailers.

On top of all this, at the time of writing, tickets have gone on sale for The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The film premieres in theaters May 22, 2026. It is directed by Jon Favreau, who also penned the script alongside Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Favreau, Filoni, and former Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy are the film's primary producers. The film stars Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Grogu, Jeremy Allen White (Rotta the Hutt), Sigourney Weaver (Ward), Steve Blum (Garazeb Orrelios), among others.
